snowboard season's balance sheet
www.hoehenmeter.com is interesting. I can check there how often I went snowboarding this winter with my season ticket, how many times I used which lift on a specific day and - as the domainname suggests - meters in altitude per run and day.
I was pleasantly surprised that I had managed 25 days although my season was cut short due to scribed (but not completely torn) ligaments in my ankle joint. See below one of my longer days.
time | location | minutes | meters in altitude |
---|---|---|---|
09:15 | Uga Bergfahrt | 5 | 448m |
09:29 | Hasenbühel | 6 | 512m |
… | |||
15:30 | Walisgaden | 3 | 163m |
total | 10247m |
Update: More data here.

Mozilla security update needs testing
Mozilla 1.7.13 has been released, fixing a bunch of issues and Alexander Sack has already prepared a update for sarge based on 1.7.13.
Please test it, especially if you are using extensions or other packages depending on mozilla (or its libraries), like e.g. evolution or galeon.

how to make useless recommendations
I have wonderded about amazon's stupidity before however I am still surprised about the uselessness of its automatic recommendations. If I bought book A by author X amazon will recommend books B, C, D, &c. by the same author. - That is the whole algoritm afaict.
Not very surprising the implemention of the algoritm is broken, amazon also recommends paperback edition of book A and German translation of book A. Aargh.
